Ph.D., Ph.D. University of Ottawa, l98l Dr. Davis received a Bachelor's degree in English and Psychology and a Master's in Journalism/Communications from the University of Illinois. She began teaching writing in bilingual classrooms as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, while researching her dissertation on the figure of the doppelganger in E. M. Forster's fiction. Before coming to UC Davis in l98l, Dr. Davis taught at the University of San Francisco and Merritt College, Oakland. For a number of years, she has taught the Fiction Workshop at UC Berkeley Extension. Currently, Dr. Davis serves as Assistant Director of Composition, Lower Division, and has taught English l and 3 (Freshman Composition); Writing in the Professions: Journalism; English l0l (Advanced Composition), as well as a number of English literature and creative writing courses. She also serves on thesis committees for several graduate students in Creative Writing. Her fields of interest include the literature of California, contemporary fiction, and early twentieth-century British literature. Her essays, stories, and book reviews have been published in Journal of the West, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Malahat Review, Primavera and other journals. Davis served as editor for Thursday's Child: Stories by Bay Area Writers (Vols. 4 and 5)
