The William Van O'Connor Library
The Campus Writing Center Collection
Lending Policy: English Department patrons may borrow Campus Writing Center materials for a reasonable time period (i.e., two weeks).
Apart from the Lannan Video Collection, the Campus Writing Center (CWC) Collection is the only circulating collection associated with the Department of English. Currently located in the southwest corner of the William Van O'Connor Library, the CWC was once housed separately from the library collections of the English Department. Though the two libraries now share the same room, because of its different lending policies, the CWC remains essentially a small library unto itself, designed to foster interdisciplinary writing and provide sources on writing for all university instructors, regardless of discipline.
The CWC collection includes a range of journals and books focused on composition and interdisciplinary writing issues and a shelf devoted to possible texts for English 1 and English 3 instruction. The journals are arranged alphabetically, and the books are arranged principally by their Library of Congress catalogue numbers. See the Campus Writing Center catalogue on the library computer for more information. (The journal section of the Campus Writing Center library is also included on the English Department's Journal catalogue for the convenience of library patrons. Please pay close attention to the information given in the "Library Holdings" section of each catalogue entry to help you identify which section of the library houses the resource you are looking for.)
Search Tips: Once in the library, to locate works of interest, search the "Campus Writing Center" catalogue located on the library computer by title, author, or year, among other fields. For further tips on locating resources in this collection, see Using the Computer Catalogue: Searching for Books or Using the Computer Catalogue: Searching for Journals.
